Despite its imperfect execution, the Church&rsquo;s efforts created an essential framework that allowed for a later resurgence of <strong>learning</strong> and <strong>civilized arts</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Context</strong></p> <p>The period from the sixth to the tenth centuries is often referred to as the <strong>Dark Ages</strong>, characterized by widespread warfare, economic decline, and a significant loss of knowledge. The fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE marked the beginning of this era.
