This inquiry is rooted in ancient Greek philosophy, particularly in the works of Aristotle. We will explore the tension between <strong>self-sufficiency</strong> and <strong>constitutional government</strong>, as well as the relationship between <strong>territory size</strong> and <strong>good governance</strong>.</p> <h2 id="context">Context</h2> <p>The question of state size was a pressing concern in ancient Greece, where city-states like Athens and Sparta were grappling with issues of governance and administration. The rise of trade and commerce also led to increased interactions between city-states, making questions about territory size and self-sufficiency more pertinent. This period saw the emergence of various philosophical schools, including <strong>Aristotelianism</strong> and <strong>Platonism</strong>, which would later influence Western thought on politics and governance.</p>
